The Food Fantasy - Jupiter's Casino | Broadbeach Island

Undoubtedly, one of the best buffets in Gold Coast, in terms of quality and price ($30 for lunch). With its wide selection of dishes from all over the world, including a range of hot and cold dishes, mouth-watering salads and indulgent desserts, it truly lives up to its name.

Greeted by warm friendly smiles, the attentive staff led us into a bright open space overlooking a gigantic swimming pool. As I walked pass the spectacular banquet display, I was stunned and amazed by the choices.

Food Fantasy offered an extensive entree selection. The salad bar came with assorted salads, cold meats, condiments and sauces, and various fruits. The fruits could have been fresher, but the array of salads (sweet potato salad, potato and seeded mustard salad, seafood extender salad) were impressive. The large scallops in the seafood salad were extremely fresh and juicy.

The mains were equally mouthwatering: in general, the soups (pumpkin soup, chicken and mushroom, oriental chicken soup) were deliciously creamy and flavourful, the roast and meats were juicy and tender, and the curry was delighfully fragrant with a slight hint of spice. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the tempura fish as much as the other mains as the the batter was too hard and thick and the fish didn't taste fresh.

The highlight of the day was definitely the DESSERTS. The scrumptious desserts were at least comparable, or in my opinion, better than many award winning restaurants. I especially liked the creme-brulee - the smooth, silky goodness, drizzled with rich butterscotch sauce, was sinfully irresistable.

To top it off, Food Fantasy has recently gotten a pancake machine and an ice-cream machine. I didn't think much of the pancakes and the icecream, but it was a cool novelty - I could probably stand there all day and play with it.

For only $30, it was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon. I left the restaurant feeling blisfully bloated :).

Warning: This isn't just any old buffet. Be prepared to feel astounded (and bloated). Bring an empty stomach.

Verdict: I can't wait to go back!!!
