Govinda's Vegetarian Restaurant - 99 Elizabeth Street Brisbane QLD 4000

 

Surprisingly, this suspicious looking Hare Krishna restaurant is home to one of the best Kofta Balls in Brisbane. Not to mention you can get an ALL YOU CAN EAT vegetarian feast for only $12.90 (adults) or $10 (students).

After climbing 2 flights of stairs and bombarded with various posters about meditation and life healing, we reached a lonely little corridor.
 

As we entered inside, we were welcomed by the sight of delicious Indian curries, pappadams and samosas. Don't expect fancy dining though - the place resembles a military style canteen and you're actually expected to take your own plates back, but it's worth it because the food here is really quite tasty.

For only $12.90 (or $10 if you're a student), you get a large plate stacked with various curries, Kofta Balls covered with sweet tomato chutney, plus a fresh garden salad. The Kofta Balls here are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G - crispy on the outside with a rich chickpea filling on the inside. The best part - it's ALL YOU CAN EAT!

What's more, you also get a refreshing Lemon, Mint & Ginger Drink and a Halava Custard to end your meal. Although the Halava Custard looks like a pile of mush, it was quite enjoyable and oozing with smooth, creamy custard. It was a little boring though and would have been better if it was spiced up with curt orange zest or tart blueberries.

If the Feast alone isn't enough to satisfy you, you can also get the Quiche ($5) or a Vegetarian Lasagne ($7.95). But seriously, just get the Feast.

Vegetarian paradise for impoverished students like me - great feast for only $12.90!
