With a massive cocktail bar, open kitchen (which comes with a wood fire oven to make authentic wood-fire pizzas) and artistic yet rustic décor, I was instantly mesmerised.
The modern and artistic indoor space makes Communal a fantastic place to catch up. The Eat House also caters for large groups and provides large communal tables outdoors. |
Communal offers a diverse menu, ranging from burgers, share plates, and wood-fire pizzas. Best of all, there's also cocktails :D!
Feeling particularly hungry, I ordered the Bourbon Braised Beef Ribs ($29), which comes with Mac n Cheese, Coleslaw, and Corn on Cob. The beef ribs were marinated in a delicately sweet and tangy bourbon sauce, which allowed the succulent juices and smoky flavours of the beef ribs to seep through with each bite. Alas, these exciting flavours were tainted by the discovery of a single strand of short brown hair hidden underneath my delicious ribs (EWWWW!). The accompanying sides were also quite unimpressive - the coleslaw was fresh but the Mac n Cheese were cemented together by a floury goo and lacked the strong creamy-cheesiness I was after.
Perfectly braised with a slight reddish tinge inside - simply divine! |
Of course, the beef ribs alone wasn't enough to satisfy the Food Extinguishers so we also got a Chimmichurri Chicken Burger ($18). With an overhanging piece of deliciously tender chicken steak, bacon, generous avocado spread and juicy slices of tomatoes, the burger looked quite gourmet. Unfortunately, the soft bun it came in was not toasted, so it became quite soggy and unenjoyable at the very end. On the other hand, the accompanying chips was irresistible - perfectly light and crunchy on the outside, yet soft and fluffy on the inside.
Served with delicious aioli, the chips were to die for! |
Verdict:Best Beef Ribs and Battered Chips Ever!
