Hakataya Ramen - Warrigal Square | 261 Warrigal Road, Eight Mile Plains QLD 4113

Specialising in Tonkotsu ramen, this Japanese ramen franchise is one of the better ramen restaurants in Brisbane.

Just like its Japanese predecessor, it features a wooden bar and high chairs so that you can see the chefs cook your ramen.

Customers slurping down delicious ramen.

Using specially selected pork bones, the broth is simmered for 39 hours to draw out all the flavours. Choose from Japanese pork noodle soup, Japanese pork noodle soup with extra pork, spicy pork noodle soup, spicy miso noodle soup and a few more. Yes, it's all pork noodles, and not very vegetarian friendly, but it's a ramen shop, what do you expect?

Hakataya Menu

Rich in pork flavours and collagen, the soup was pretty amazing for a fast food ramen franchise. The char siu (seasoned pork slices) is also quite impressive - cooked for hours with soy sauce and mirin (sweet cooking sake), it has a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Unfortunately it was a little dry. The noodles were also cooked perfectly with a delightfully chewy bouncy texture.

Char Siu Men (With Extra Pork) $13.50

Comes with complimentary pickles. And best of all, say "Kaedama", and you get free extra noodles! There's no catch :).

The dumplings, however, was a let down. Don't get me wrong, it was still above average, and the dumplings were somewhat juicy and the chicken mince fell apart in your mouth. If only the base was crispy (and not oily/soggy), then it would have been a lot better.

Gyoza (6 pieces) $7.00

Verdict:
Delicious pork broth ramen with melt-in-your-mouth char siu.

FREE BIRTHDAY TWEET: Best of all, this place offers FREE BIRTHDAY RAMEN on your birthday. In fact, the Char Siu Men I got was free :). Pretty generous servings of charsiu don't you think?
